Today In Sports History: On this day 6th July 2014(Exactly 6years ago today) Asamoah Gyan’s best friend Castro ‘The Destroyer’ disappeared in Ada Estuary.

On 6th June 2014, the Ghanaian hiplife artiste Castro who was a closest friend to the then captain of the Black Stars national team, Asamoah Gyan was drowned following a jet ski accident in Ada Estuary a lady called Janet Bandu while on holiday with the Gyan brothers after the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

The jet ski involved in the accident was seen on the same day but their bodies had not been recovered, despite a search by the police.

According to Asamoah Gyan, that was the first time they went to Aqua Safari and that the previous years, they went to Akosombo.

A day before the visit they called to find a bigger yacht because all the friends will be coming with their ladies. Asamoah Gyan revealed that Castro called him a week before he returned to Ghana that he may not be able to go with them because a friend of Castro was bereaved, and he had to attend the the funeral in Kumasi.

Castro was a great Ghanaian hip life artiste who loved football especially the Ghana National Soccer Team ‘Black Stars.’

In 2006, he won the Hiplife Artiste of the Year as well as the Hiplife Album of the Year with song “Toffee”.

In the year 2011, he won the Best Hiplife Song of the Year with the song he featured Asamoah Gyan titled ” African Girls”.
